There is a "credits and XP" tab on the match end screen that shows exactly how many XP, Free XP, credits and commander XP you have earned and how they were calculated (base plus all modifiers from camo and flags). The number next to the silver star is just called "XP", and is not affected by any modifiers to Commander XP or Free XP. Free XP is the number next to the gold star.
While the amount scales based off your normal XP, Commander XP goes exclusively to leveling up your captain and unlocking new skills for him. Commander XP is a completely separate figure that isn't shown on the end-of-battle screen at all. The exp thats posted is commander exp or free exp or combination? I played for several months now - always thought it was commander exp that was posted on the post game summary Neither.
